Project details

PROJECT DURATION: 01.01.2022 –  01.10.2022

DESCRIPTION: The project addresses the existing unresolved conflicts in Georgia, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine. These conflicts influence the local, national, regional and international security landscape.

Given the challenging security situation of the states, the unresolved conflicts have a multidimensional impact, including social, economic and political issues, negatively affecting the democratic institutions and the human rights situation in these three countries. All these conflicts pose latent or active threats to peace and stability, with the potential to reshape the constitutional order and to influence the geopolitical situation in the whole region, in particular the Black Sea Region. These conflicts contain a threat of replication because they also include patterns and scenarios that can be reproduced to a wider geographical extent.

On the other side, regarding international and local perspective, there are barriers to ensure relevant preventive actions in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic and existing no controlled secessionist regions (for example, numerous cases reported from Transnistrian region artificial and unjustified obstacles to the activity of medical personnel during times of pandemic risis).

The goal of this project is to create an international expert platform that will focus on analyzing the unresolved conflicts from Georgia, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine. The platform will bring together an international network of researchers and CSO activists from Eastern Partnership and European Union countries, which will cooperate in addressing topics that will cover diverse aspects of these conflicts, aiming to develop the best practices and policy advice for reconciliation and confidence-building across the region.
