Press Release: The Romanian – Ukrainian Civil Society Forum for Dialogue and Cooperation. Third Edition

 

The Association of Experts for Security and Global Affairs (Bucharest), together with colleagues from the Strategic and Security Studies Group and Foreign Policy Council “Ukrainian PRISM” (Kyiv), organized on Thursday, July 28, 2022, the third edition of the civil society forum Romania-Ukraine, dedicated to the strategic partnership between our countries.

Organized under the auspices of celebrating 30 years of diplomatic relations between Romania and Ukraine, the Forum brought together Romanian and Ukrainian officials and experts online, formulating ideas and perspectives on cooperation in the political, economic, energy and social fields.

The participants of the Forum took a pragmatic view of the recent events in the region, addressing the effects of the war waged by the Russian Federation against Ukraine. Moreover, European security was not ignored by the experts invited to the Forum, who presented the European plan to ensure access to energy resources.

The official agenda of this year’s Forum addressed the resilience of post-war reconstruction plans, with the panelists dealing with the systemic analysis of external actions supporting Ukraine.

It should be emphasized that the experts and officials from the two states tried to find common points of strategic interest for Romania and Ukraine. Also, they have highlighted the unconditional and extremely fast help civil society and the Romanian authorities provided in managing the war refugee crisis in Ukraine.

At the end of the Forum, the organizers booked a special session dedicated to media interaction with the panelists, thus creating new bridges of discussion and cooperation between Romania and Ukraine.

This event was organized within the project “Romanian – Ukrainian Civil Society Forum for Dialogue and Cooperation. Third edition, implemented by the Experts for Security and Global Affairs Association (Romania), in partnership with the Strategic and Security Studies Group and Foreign Policy Council “Ukrainian PRISM” (Ukraine), with the support of Black Sea Trust for Regional Cooperation, a project of the German Marshall Fund.
